Pretty good rehearsal today guys! Monday morning August 18 we will be playing at a JWA recruitment assembly. 7th/8th graders report to the high school like a normal day. Middle school color guard students let me know if you need help with transportation that morning. Parents, we need some help transporting the equipment trailer! We leave around 9:30am and be back to class by 11am. JW Adams has some of the best students I've ever worked with. We hope to get as many involved in Fine Arts as possible. Especially now that Mr Cantrell is at the wheel!

Parents and Students,
The band program uses several methods to communicate information on our schedules and events going on with our program. Our schedule is always posted in the bandroom at school. We also use the Central HS Band website which can always be viewed by going to http://centralhighwarriorband.blogspot.com/
We also communicate information via the Central Band Facebook page, which seems to be our most popular method of communication. All band functions are also posted in the invitation packet provided at the beginning of each semester.
We also use a text messaging service called Remind, this is also one of our ore popular methods of communication. Remind is a free text messaging service and your phone number and personal information remains confidential. We have two separate accounts, one for band members another for parents. However parents can feel free to sign up for both. How to sign up?

I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing weekend. This week we have after school marching band rehearsal Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm-6pm. We also have a Band Booster meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 6:30pm. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting. We have four rehearsals before our first football game vs. Chilhowie so we need everyone present and working hard.
I need to go over a potential schedule change to our after school rehearsals. Right now we go from 4pm-6pm as scheduled. I need to know if you would have a major schedule conflict if we went from 4:30pm-6:30pm. The days would remain the same and the bus from LF Addington to Central would still arrive at the same time. Right now we have several students riding a bus from JW Adams to Central to attend after school rehearsal. The earliest this bus can arrive at the high school is 4:25 which means these students would be late if we kept our current rehearsal schedule. In order to accommodate our students from Pound I would like to change our rehearsal hours to 4:30pm-6:30pm. Please email me if you have a potential conflict with your schedule if we change this. If we do change our rehearsal hours it will go into effect NEXT WEEK, not this week.
We need to get started on building props for our show this year. I have set Saturday, August 23 as our “Prop Day.” On that day parents will meet at the high school and we will get some props built for out show. The school will provide the materials needed. I plan to have one of the props built for you to use as a reference. The more parents we have the easier and quicker the job will be done. Parents, please set this date aside in your calendars.

Parents! As stated in our last newsletter we will have a parent meeting right after camp at 5pm next week on Tuesday, July 29th in the new CHS auditorium. At this meeting we will have a question/answer session about the operations of the band and our booster club. We will introduce our booster officers and accept nominations for officer positions. We have a lot of new students in the band this year who are doing an amazing job. YOUR STUDENTS need your help! There are many things that go into supporting a band organization. The only way it works is through your attendance and participation in what your student does. Again, next Tuesday, July 29 at 5pm in the new CHS auditorium.

This Saturday July 19 the CHS Band is hosting a Family Fun Day Event at the old CHS football stadium. We have many family activities planned such as tug-o-war, a corn hole tournament, a walk a thon, water balloons and more! We are asking $2 per person at the gate, children under 2 get in free. We are also inviting people to set up their own personal yard sale for a $5 set up fee. People who think they have the best chili can participate in our chili cook off for a $20 entry fee. With our Walk a thon you can sponsor a student for $3 per mile. Local businesses are also welcome to set up a booth for $5. The band will have concession items for sale such as hot dogs, chips, soft drinks, water and candy. Start time is noon and we will wrap everything up at dark. This is the first time our band has attempted a fundraiser like this, please come out, support us and enjoy a great summer event!
